About us

Buntara Sangha Kuwait is a non-profit socio-cultural association formed to engage in the promotion and preservation of Bunts culture and history in the state of kuwait. 

The Sangha came into existence by the hard work of two Coordinators - Mr. Vivek Shetty Belman & Mr. Prakash K Shetty Bijantla along with Founder members on 8th March, 2002. The Inaugural ceremony took place at the Mass Auditorium, Abbassiya, Kuwait.

The Association was dissolved and reconstituted as "Buntara Sangha" on 4th Feburary, 2011 at the Carmel School Auditorium, Kuwait. For all internal matter, the Sangha uses its popular acronym BSK.

Objectives:
The objective of BSK is to integrate and unify welfare activities of the Bunts community, recongnize talents and promote philanthropic activities as mentioned in BSK consitution. BSK encorages and recongnises Non-Dowry marriages.
BSK promotes various cultural programs with the aim to encourage community enrichment by all means, thus paving our new generation to understand our rich inherited culture and empower their participation with all pride under the banner of BSK.

Membership:
Any family or individual of the Bunts community residing in Kuwait, who subscribes to the objectives of the Association, shall be eligible to be a general member. Membership shall remain in effect as long as the member abides by Constitution and remains in good standing, having paid all current dues as set out in the By-laws.
Managing Committee: The Managing committee shall be elected at each Annual General Body Meeting, and shall consist of the following office-bearers:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • General Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Cultural Secretary
  • Public Relations Officer
  • Sports secretary

BSK Logo and its meaning:  BSK Logo is represented by 6 main elements


Rangoli, Purna Kalasha, the Mango leaves, Coconut, Our National (Indian) flag tricolor and the symbolic Kuwait tower

Rangoli: Rangoli is not only a symbol of religious and cultural belief, but also symbolizes joy,... happiness and an auspicious beginning.

Purna Kalasha (the sacred vessel): This symbolizes mother goddess or goddess Laxmi in particular. The metal pot is either filled with water or rice, which represents the material wealth or the powers of the goddess.

Mango Leaves: The leaves at the mouth of the kalasha represents healthy in mind, body and intellect and may we have healthy habits that we are an inspiration wherever we are.

Coconut: This represents the divine consciousness.

Indian Flag Tricolor: Represents the Indianess among us, thus strive to preserve the rich culture and integrity always.

Kuwait Tower: A symbolic landmark in Kuwait which reminds of our Karma Bhoomi.
